The Fifth Round Table for the Triple I for Global Health
The 5th Round Table meeting among the Partners of "Impact Investment Initiative for Global Health (Triple I for GH)" took place on 21st February 2025.
Ambassador Suzuki Hideo provided an update on Triple I for GH's progress, including the recent Triple I side event in Davos with the launch of two critical documents: the Annual Report and the Policy Recommendations for Pillar 3. Ambassador Suzuki also introduced the new Triple I partner website, an interactive platform for updating and reporting Triple I partners' project investments and data. Finally, Ambassador Suzuki outlined future plans until September this year, including participation in major international events and further development of Policy Recommendations and the Practitioner's Guide for impact measurement and management (IMM).
Co-Chair Mr. Steve Davis provided an overview of the Policy Recommendations that were launched in the Davos side event and scheduled for finalization in March. He explained that the recommendations encompass different policy topics such as enhancing capital flows, addressing foreign exchange risks, and fostering a conducive investment marketplace, among others. Mr. Davis shared his expectation that through dissemination of the report, Triple I can contribute to conversations around policy changes and innovative mechanisms in order to enable more impact investing to support global health and development.
Triple I Secretariat then shared the concept of the Triple I Practitioner's Guide on IMM, which is under development, emphasizing its goal to serve as a comprehensive guide for impact investing in the global health sector. The guide aims to provide investors, asset owners, donors, governmental organizations, NGOs and others with a baseline of leading practices that may be useful in developing and implementing their own IMM strategies in global health. The first version of the document is scheduled to be released by the end of March.
Ms. Swathi Rao, Senior Manager of the Health Finance Coalition (HFC), a Triple I partner, gave a presentation about HFC's work around delivering investment and impact for the African healthcare investment ecosystem. HFC facilitates health advancements by bridging the gap between investors and healthcare enterprises through services that range from tailored hands-on support to companies to designing and mobilizing innovative financial structures. Ms. Rao also shared two case studies, where HFC provided strategic guidance and support to healthcare enterprises.
Following these presentations, a group discussion was held, facilitated by Co-Chair Mr. Ken Shibusawa. The discussion centered around IMM practices as well as on the Practitioner Guide.
Overall, the roundtable meeting saw valuable exchange of experiences and views to expand impact investment in global health sector.
