Triple I co-hosted a side event with CGHD and WHEN at the World Economic Forum
On Jan 17th, Triple I co-hosted the high-level roundtable "Amplifying the Impact: Leveraging Partnerships to Improve Outcomes of Global Health Impact Investing Initiatives" with Advisory/Advocacy Partner, the Center for Global Health and Development (CGHD), and Women's Health & Empowerment Network(WHEN). The roundtable was organized in Davos on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, and attended by Dr. Natalia Kanem, Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Dr. Ayoade Alakija, Triple I Co-Chair, H.E. Mr. Naoki Ito, Ambassador for Global Health of Japan and the Triple I Secretariat, the WHEN-Chairs Dr. Ted Trimble, Dr. Kee Park and Joanne Manrique as well as representatives from the private sector, investors, governments and NGOs including The Global Fund and 2X Global.
Participants introduced various examples of investment projects and initiatives that bring measurable impact on women's health (e.g. AI which supports detecting pregnancy complications, training and equipping women in rural villages to carry out simple yet essential healthcare services), in particular. They pointed out the importance of utilizing private capital, including blended finance, and expressed expectations for Triple I that mobilizing private capital is essential in solving global health issues. Several Triple I partner organizations* also attended the conference and introduced their case studies and nurtured their networks for further collaboration and joint action.
