The launch of the Triple I for Global Health

On the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly High Level Meetings on September 21, 2023, the "Impact Investment Initiative for Global Health (Triple I for Global Health)" was successfully launched at the forum hosted by the Japan Society in New York, "Toward more Resilient, Equitable and Sustainable Universal Health Coverage (UHC) by 2030 -Equitable Access to Medical Countermeasures (MCMs) and Impact Investment Initiative (Triple I) for Global Health".
In his opening remarks, H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan announced the launch of the Triple I, and encouraged investors, private companies and organizations to further participated in the initiative. The event was also attended by H.E. Panpres Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-Generalof the WHO , ministers from various countries, Dr. Bill Gates, Mr. Ken Shibusawa, Representative Director of Shibusawa & Company Co., Ltd., as well as representatives of international organizations and investors.
Commitments and expectations for the Triple I and for mobilizing private resource in health sector with a view to addressing global health issues were expressed by speakers including H.E. Mr. Will Quince, Minister of State for Health and Secondary Care, H.E. Mr. Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, investors, businesses. Representatives of Leapfrog Investments, Eisai Co., Ltd., SAMRIDH Healthcare Blended Finance Facility, MedAccess, United States International Development Finance Corporation introduced their efforts in impact investments in global health.
